Submission Guidelines Articles should be 3,000 to 5,000 words in length, and book reviews between 1,500 and 3,000 words. It is best to submit manuscripts as an attachment to an e-mail addressed to mrmag@monthlyreview.org. Alternately, you may mail submissions to the address below. Monthly Review follows the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition. We prefer articles with accessible jargon-free language, aimed at the general reader, that do not assume specialized knowledge. Please eliminate or minimize scholarly apparatus as much as possible. Citations should be limited to documenting direct quotes or to data that is likely to be questioned. When possible, a brief note on sources is preferable to endnotes. Your submission will be acknowledged when it is received and you should expect a decision in 4 to 6 weeks (decisions may take longer, especially in the summer). |
