Horne unmasks U.S. strategies to dominate the globe, starting with Gaza (Listen: The Socialist Program with Brian Becker )

5 Actions (2)_0

As a long-time, consistent analyst of this settler colonialist society, and the writer of books on many disparate topics, Horne is in a position to weigh in with some clear perspective on Israel and Historic Palestine. In an interview with Brian Becker, Horne lay out some of the specific manifestations of a shifting political climate, and argued that if anything, the bombardment of Gaza has severely backfired. Horne and Becker together list off an array of dynamics unfolding in recent weeks, including:

*the Arab League’s and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s involvement in the so-called Abraham Accords, and the resultant boost in legitimacy this gave to the counter-force in the region — that is, the country which Israel perceives as its greatest enemy — Iran;

*the timing of the above, in connection with Jordanian and Moroccan demonstrations in support of Palestine during the recent bombardment of Gaza;

*the attempted lynching of Palestinian citizens of Israel in the last few weeks, and commentators’ description of this as a sign of looming civil war;  (MRP note: a significant misconstruing of the situation on the part of those commentators)

*U.S. military strategic relations with Turkey, American military bases and rising tensions between Washington and Ankara given Turkey’s rankling against the use of U.S. arms in the bombing of Gaza, and of Turkey’s support for Hamas;

* and politicians’ catering to the evangelical Zionist right-wing, over and above its catering to the old-guard Jewish establishment;

*shifts within Israeli society towards far-right fascist Jewish supremacism, accompanied by the revulsion of younger Jewish Americans;

And that’s just in the first 15 minutes of the interview…. To listen to the full interview, in all its depth and complexity, you can listen below or at The Socialist Program with Brian Becker.
